With the award of this money from the Community Fund we will work to address the lack of, or potentially negative, social interactions these clients have or are developing due to their complex needs and attendant isolation and loneliness. With the added impact from months in lockdown due to the Corona Virus, we anticipate there will be a greater need overall in our communities, due to fear and anxiety of exposure to the virus amid reports of increased mental health problems and substance use affecting more people. For our client group this situation has exacerbated their complex and multiple needs with potentially more entrenched isolation. We will improve the opportunities for healthier social interaction and community activity, providing encouragement and support to engage with their community’s facilities, whether that is a local café or shops, local walks or even round the block to start with, while looking forward to the potential re-establishment of community activities that they may be interested in, with improving social interaction, family relationships and community involvement.
